Unfortunately it is long gone, but should I find another one I’ll take a spore print. Is there another species you’re thinking of? If it had a dark spore print then presumably it would be a Sarcodon. It did look a bit different from what I’m used to finding in California – enough that I looked around in literature for other Hydnum species, but not enough that I thought it might be in a totally different group.
I would do a spore print on this one. It might have brown spores. It looks so different from the west coast material..
