I’ve been wanting to find A. brunnescens, but it didn’t occur to me when I saw this specimen. It was at the very end of a walk when we realized we were late, so I was in a rush and didn’t get a chance to do more than snap this one picture. Based on the photos I could find I’m going with A. brunnescens for now.

Only the person who saw the cap color knows for sure…

This is either A. brunnescens or A. aestivalis. The problems of segregating these with photos (or with most tools used by those of us who interact on MO) has been previously discussed. I don’t know of anything that has changed.
