These mushrooms grow in my back yard in great quantities on the lawn around an ash tree. They smell and taste like dirt!

They are growing on the “honeydew” of the leafcurl ash aphid. Sometimes there are black sclerotia at the stem base encasing and protecting the aphids which in exchange feed the fungus.
