Notes: abundant on sandstone outcrops

These large colonies were invariably apodetiate, forcing me to guess. Surprisingly, it actually keys out in the apodetiate group under Cladonia in the Harris & Ladd keys. To be sure I would presumably need to verify the presence of grayanic acid via TLC.
