I will try to remember in the future, in this case i was rushing to catch up with my hiking buddies and just grabbed it, checked the trees around, and ran. Memory tells me it was hanging out in tan oak leaves, right near the base of the tree, maybe 10 feet from a watershed.

Hey nice find, you should post some habitat photos if you end up finding more. Given, I understand that doesn’t cross peoples minds before they pick the mushroom up to smell it.
