Barrowsiis like the southern facing slopes and they seem to be kinda brittle esecially were the cap meet the stipe. The color seems o.k. to me.

I first found and picked B. barrowsii last year in the Oakland hills. Found about 8 in 2 different locations. Also had reports from other locals finding them last year.

Looks a little on the darker side, but very much in range of what we call B. barrowsii on campus.

yeah, it has that edulis aspect…

but also a weird frosting on the cap! don’t think that it’s a queen, tho.

sometimes edulis does occur with oak in CA, altho this is the first that I have heard of it with oak in the Bay Area.
