Cortinarius was my first impression too. The cortina looks right for a cort. Did it bleed? After checking the Hypomyces monograph, I didn’t find any that are known to be on a Cortinarius. There is a brownish orange Hypomyces on Pholiota. I hope you saved it!

Appears to be a Cortinarius with an infection, possibly a Hypomyces.
