No herbarium specimen

Notes: Identified at the fair and recognized by sight. I’m not convinced that this is the ‘correct’ name, but it seems consistent with what’s in Mushrooms Demystified.

Cortinarius clandestinus…

The name the Cort. Expert Joe Ammirati uses for our cotoneus group species is clandestinus, A name which Kauffman published from my area long ago. Having seen pictures of the two they really don’t look extreamely alike but for their nearly identical coloration… Now I have never seen any material from down in your area… I will Ask Joe this week if you guys have the same species down there…
