Even more difficult to tell what defines a Hemimycena, I think..

You are probably right on these. I got the id, by looking at the cystidia from the same thing the year before. At the time, the yellow with white margin, and the fusoid, pointed cystidia seemed to match M. laevigata just fine. But looking in the books again, it looks like both M. laevigata and M. flavoalba have very similar cystidia. There is a difference between the spore being amyloid in one, and not in the other, but my notes are uncertain there, since the guy was young, and very few spores seen. I need to check on caulocystidia on the stipe, it seems that M. flavoalba has some unique features there.

There was a note on Hemimycena flavoalba? It seems with the inamyloid spores, that species should be a Hemimycena, not a Mycena? Makes me wonder about M. adonis also… and really, what defines a Mycena in general…
