Found in a group of clusters (some scattered), growing from soil, in mixed predominantly pine forest.

2-5cm broad, convex to convex-umbonate, smooth, moist,
Red-brown somewhat fading near the margin.
Flesh is moist, light brown-ish

Adnate, close, creamy light yellow (with some darker spots from spores)

3.5-9.5cm long, .4-.9cm wide, smooth, hollow, gradually tapering from the top down to the base
White to creamy at apex, fading near center to dark red-brown.
Superior hairy or fibrous ring zone which is purple from the spores
Flesh, at apex, is white but orange-ish in the center and the lower half is dark red-brown throughout.
