Recognized by sight: Cap convex, dotted stipe, drops of fluid on stipe, gills crowded, zonate cap, fruiting under Quercus. A taste test of a small piece of the cap context, chewed at the tip of the tongue, should soon produce an intense peppery taste with L. alnicola.

The taste of the cap was latently peppery (acrid) and tt matches the variety found with oak described in the comments for L. alnicola in Mushrooms Demystified quite well. The pictures on MO seem to match as well. Thanks.
