Observation 60737: Suillus pungens Thiers & A.H. Sm.
When: 2010-12-13
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Mushroom was growing on a lawn under a monterey pine. Climate before collection was very wet and temperature at this coastal location was about 50-60 degrees. I am not sure if the two mushroom are the same. Although they were growing about 4 inches from each other, the color of the flesh and stem are distinctly different. The yellow flesh one also does a cap that is irregular shape, but the white flesh one has a rounder cap. Both have a slimy cap that look similar in tint and texture.
