Observation 6084: Hygrocybe acutoconica (Clem.) Singer
When: 2008-01-14
No herbarium specimen

Notes: I’m a wee confused on this one — presistens is named as a synonym, but "Largent states ‘The red color of the pileus is the only reliable way to separate Hygrophorus persistens from Hygrophorus acutoconicus.’ ? No red = acutoconica?

We had this discussion last season, but it looks like the final upshot didn’t get added to the notes for these species. It seems the consensus at this point is that they are the same species and H. persistens has precedence.
