I added a new photo from the collection location. You can kind of see what these were growing from- dirt, weeds, fallen redwood leaves and bark, and some small fragments of woody debri that may have at one time been wood chips.

about this not being a Hebeloma. Not that it looks much like a Galerina either with the nonstriate cap and overall white colour.. An interesting one!

While both can have dextrinoid spores, the strongly tibiiform (round-capitate) cheilocystidia forming a sterile band, and the lack of a mycorrhizal host nearby (this was under redwood on woodchips and soil, some with bases directly on wood pieces) suggest Galerina or one of the satellite genera.

but we never really determined that it was a Galerina, did we? It sure has a weird color for a galerina…
