I have also found this stinking fungus in NZ, and it is an open question whether it is the same species as in Europe: Marasmiellus (formerly Micromphale) fœtidus. It looks and smells the same 8≈] but experience tells us that there is no (?) overlap between the South Pacific and the northern parts of the world…

…fruiting from bark at the base of living Podocarpus totara, pileus up to 15mm in diameter, stipe up to 2mm in diameter, strong odor of garlic.
