Notes: I can certainly see why these things are mistaken for death caps and vice-versa.

These had grey streaked caps, white gills (on the young ones) and a large voluminous volva.

However, the lack of a ring on any examples and pinkish gills in age along with no mycorrhizial hosts nearby pretty much makes Volvariella a given.
