Observation 6178: Armillaria solidipes Peck

This specimen was identified as A. ostoyae through morphology (note pointed stipe bases and scales on the pileus; microscopically there are clamps at the bases of the basida, which A. mellea lacks), mating and DNA studies. Specimen at CFMR in Madison WI

Armillaria solidipes should be the correct name, but I never got around to changing it on MO. See http://botit.botany.wisc.edu/toms_fungi/sep2008.html.
