Observation 61869: Amanita Pers.

When: 2011-01-06

Collection location: Huddart Park, Woodside, California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Tom (LanLord)

No specimen available

Although the colour was close, I doubt that this was phalloides, but can’t tell for sure. The yellow seemed to be too bright and not enough of a metallic sheen to it.

It did have a rancid, almost like spoiled potatoes odour to it though.

It was buried very deeply in the forest duff, so deep that digging it up nearly destroyed the volva, all I can tell is there was one, not how voluminous it was. The annulus was not overly large and pendant in shape, but it may have been due to age.
