Observation 61881: Peziza domiciliana Cooke

When: 2011-01-06

Collection location: Lebanon, Linn Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Britney Ramsey (Riverdweller)

No specimen available

I asked the new neighbor if it was still ok to walk in her woods (her newly owned woods) and she was so grateful I “knew something about fungus” :)~
She invited me in to take a look at what was growing in the living room.
The pore surface surprised me at first. I was expecting gills because the color and context of the cap seemed ‘that way’. I guessed polypore-something, which was good enough for her, but not for me! :)
I really am not sure what this is. Is it living from the flooring and the carpet’s fiber and glue?

Thanks Walt. When I looked at the other examples of Peziza domiciliana on MO, I was surprised at the varied visuals. Michael Kuo’s description matches fairly well macroscopically.
