Observation 61968: Ganoderma sessile Murrill
When: 2010-08-11
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Per 46370 I am calling this G. curtisii instead of G. lucidum. I watched this grow in the grass between the road and the sidewalk all summer. Photos are dated and within a couple of feet of each other, but not sequential on a single fruiting. First photo shows a very resinous quality of the surface. It seems to have melted in the sun or at least growing under the influence of gravity. There was no evidence of wood under the grass, but the staked planting hints that a tree was recently there. The most common tree in the neighborhood is silver maple.
