According to Index Fungorum with Lycoperdon perlatum as the current name.

I chose Morganella because of it’s growth on wood. This was growing from a huge fallen tree.
Mushroom Expert’s description mentions that growth on wood “helps to separate” the two possibilities.
ME also mentions that Morganella pyroformis is one of " a few" that do grow on wood , so that still leaves room for other names.
Is perlatum known also to grow on wood? Again ME talks about perlatum to “rarely grow on very decayed wood”.
