Also known commonly as “eyelash fungus.” Early spring in Olympia,WA these look like red or pink paint dropplets from afar- we found some covering whole canopies of mixed forest debris.

But I was inundated and soaked from the rains that day. Do not want to assume anything without verification-however- Possibly the debris was just saturated from the rains. It Does look like some sort of butt-rot possibly however.

Has anyone witnessed black rot from Scuttelina before?
