…how many species you could find in such a location! They might “all look the same” at first, but lichens are certainly no worse than mushrooms. Soon as you know what to look for (see my little summary at Lichen) and you’ve seen a few, you’ll never look at a tree limb the same way again. (Definitely helps to have a hand lens or dissecting microscope for studying lichens, though.)

Ok, then I’ll split this obs. Never thought that the larger one is a separate species – that’s what being a newbie in lichens costs :)

These are lichens. Most of it looks like some sort of Physcia (maybe Physcia alnophila?), the larger one in image 132043 looks like it could be Parmelia sulcata, and the orange one in image 132042 is probably a Xanthoria.
