I ordered the aforementioned book, thank you very much. Can you recommend anything else mushroom-related to look for at Canadian Forest Service website? I know from the insect field that some of the greatest books are published by government entities and are often available for free, but the information about them is hard to come by – it’s not something one can easily look up on Amazon and such.
Ziller should be OK for your area and it’s free from the Canadian Forestry Service.
Ziller, W. G. 1974. The Tree Rusts of Western Canada. Canadian Forestry Service Pub. No. 1329. Pacific Forest Research Centre, Victoria, B. C. 272p.
I’d greatly appreciate if anybody pointed out any good books on rusts and other similar fungi. This great group of fungi is generally overlooked, and books on the subject are not proudly displayed in bookstores. It’s a shame considering that areas affected by the fungus are quite siable and easy to photograph. I see many similar subjects every year, but I don’t have a reference point, and the stuff goes unidentified.
I’m not sure if this one fungal or gall.
