Pileus reddish-orangish, lightly zonate, not viscid, depressed in center, 10 cm average diameter. Gills similar color, latex white quickly changing to sulfur yellow. Stalk thick, firm, straight, equal, not scrobiculate, orangish. Common under Quercus agrifolia, fruiting with but not quite as abundant as L. alnicola.
