I read up some articles on Dendrothele, and it seems the only species of that genus that lives on Thuja occidentalis is Dendrothele pachysterigmata. There is a bunch of microscopic charachteristics out there, but not a single photo I could find at least for the visual comparison :-(

Very common; Lichen?

These are very common in our area both on Red Cedars and White Cedars. Many mature trees of those species have these on them. I wonder if it’s some lichen, but I didn’t see it in my lichen book.
