Recognized by sight: pale apricot colored cap, striate margin even when young, shaggy exannulate stipe, loose saccate volva with inner limb, inner surface often stained cap color.
Based on chemical features: sweet and nutty flavor when carmelized in butter.

Especially nice color. I like the natural light. I know a place where there tend to be A LOT of velosas around now and will be looking soon! Ha ha..

Just a thought — try opening your F-stop wider to 7 or 8 and set camera on something or use a small tripod for the macro shots. This will keep much more of the mushroom in focus. But these shots are as nice as they come with low F-stops.
