Went birdwatching a few days ago and saw this instead – a skyscraper Chlorociboria about 6 m above ground :) I’d thought it only lived on fallen logs and trunks.

you must have been using binoculars. ;)

it appears that just the one dead branch is eaten by Chlorociboria, it just happens to still be attached to the living tree.
