its former name was Agaricus praeclaresquamosus.

Annoying under that moniker as well, for all of the reasons already stated by Jeff…big, beautiful tempting “barficus.”

I don’t know if this is the correct ID or not, but I can tell you that it is the best photo of the observations identified as Agaricus moelleri yet loaded onto MO!

I hate these f***in’ things. They are more red/brown around here especially in the fall. I always see them from a distance in redwoods thinking they are a. agustus.
