Color Variation

It seems the colors range from a salmon to shades of brown. The texture could be smooth to covered sparsely with fibrils or scales. I did not know about the veil in the middle of the stipe info. So thanks for that.

Color variation?

What color and texture variations have you seen?

P. longipes doesn’t have the veil ring in the middle of the stipe. I’ve only looked at a few under the scope with the veil ring, and they all seem good to me at least as P. longistriata. There are some other variations that were created by A. H. Smith, such as P. elenae. But the descriptions are soo similar, it hard to say how they are really different.

So help me please is it the membranous annulus that is the clue? Also it seems like the pileus has quite a color and texture variation.

Thanks Christian!

I had wondered about P. longipes but wanted other opinions.
