Observation 64832: Agaricales sensu lato
When: 2011-03-26
Herbarium specimen reported

Notes: Growing inside a decaying log. Caps up to 1.2 cm, smooth, hygrophanous (observed in one specimen only). Stem about 2 cm long, 2 mm thick. Sterm surface under hand lens shows tiny hairs, whitish/brownish. Cap, stem, flesh, and gill all have the same light brown color. All parts of the mushroom are firm.

Color changes upon drying: stems and gills are very dark brown, the cap surface still light brown.

Spore print was faint, so it’s hard to tell the color, but I believe it wold be dark brown, maybe even with purple in it.

Spores 3-4 × 5-6 microns. Gills with abundant fusiform cystidia, encrusted. Smooth, round cystidia also present, though rarer.
