Lucy, I wanted to let you know that DNA was successfully extracted from roseolamellata material that you sent me from about the period of this observation…and from the same site.

The work was done by Santiago Sanchez in the lab of Dr. Jean-Marc Moncalvo in Toronto, Canada.

The sequences are not yet released by GenBank; however, the WAO site has set up links so that when the sequences are released they can be accessed from the WAO page for roseolamellata. Near the top of the technical tab, there is a data field for GenBank accession numbers with accompanying data about the extracting lab and the voucher collection used for the extraction.

The sequences will be released on GenBank when on Santiago’s research is published. I hope this will be soon. The research required sequencing three genes from as many distinct species in sect. Caesareae as was possible.

Very best,

Despite the pallid appearance in these photos….

The dried specimen has the same coloration as others of this species that were sent to me by Lucy. Thank you, Lucy.

As more material of this species becomes available to me, those interested can track the expanding set of data on the technical tab at this URL:

Very best,
