looks like the chambers on the right are still intact. I’d be curious to see what is inside!

I see little black circles on the left. Maybe they are primordia of what ever is on the right. The straight lines would be very odd for a fungus though. It reminds me of lizard scales.

hmm insecta was my fist guess, but i was still hoping something fungal…
