Don’t have any experience with Gym’s in Australia but the dry cap with a distinct incurved margin, the tight gills and the striate fibrillose stalk are indicative of most members of Gymnopilus. Also, there is a new Australian species of Gymnopilus called G. norforkensis I just read about online- it is small and grows on stumps.
