Observation 66724: Mycena (Pers.) Roussel
When: 2011-04-30
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Small white fungi fond growing on forest floor. Had a problem getting sharp images with the rain. The gills are not sharp, but because of the delicacy of the specimen I was not able to move it to a more in focus position. (d.o.f.. was max f35) The cap was about 2cm across and the stem about 6cm. The area was totally rain saturated.

You’re wondering if the lack of a convex cap rules out Mycena, correct?

It’s possible, though I’m sure there are exceptions. The name proposal is a guess based on general appearance, hence the “Could Be” level of certainty.

Comment Dropped Cap

All the referred specimens had Convex caps, even the immature fungi. The fungi I loaded had a flat cap. I am not sure about the type of fungi also shown in the image just as a cap. Dropped meant convex, bad wording. Chow, kk

ID/d? dropped cap?

Do you consider the cap to be as ID/d? The only images I can find are with dropped caps (for a better word?)
