Notes: This orange, very soft jelly like fungus was found on a birch stump. The surface was “lumpy” and no gills or pores were seen.

Used references: Cornell Mushroom blog. This could be a yeast eating a sap. Further down in her acticle she states ‘the May 2006 issue of The Mycologist includes an article about a ‘microbial consortium’ on birch stumps in Germany’ So the birch may play key here.
