I heard a story last summer about a few hemlock trees in a nature preserve adjacent to Strouds Run, but I have not seen them myself. These mushrooms were growing under Pinus strobus.
I’m working with a new camera and have not got the colors dialed in the way I’d like just yet, but the color is pretty close. It’s a dull yellow mushroom with duller yellow universal vale. The blue tones are from my diode light. I’ll add some more photos to help you triangulate on the ‘actual’ color. They were growing in the same general area as the mushroom shown here:
I successfully defended my these last week BTW. I was only able to salvage a little piece of the draft you read and commented on. Chapter 4 from the version you read became the historical introduction for the document which will be published in June. I’m giving you a shout-out because I really do appreciate the help.
Curious about the environment. Also, are we seeing the color in the photo that you saw with your “naked eye”?
