Notes: This small vase fungus was firmly anchored to the sawed top of an old stump. It was 1 1/2" tall and 1" wide. The external surface was covered with pores and the upper inside walls were smooth. At first glance the inside looked like the vase was partly full of red liquid, but the cross section showed this to be solid with a dark reddish crust. The whole structure was woody and hard to cut in half.
