Specimen growing from a crude-soaked burlap sack filled with oil, sawdust and woodchips from a nearby broomstick factory, and spent Pleurotus spawn, situated along a man-made embankment of the Charapa oil pit.

Crude is harvested from the Charapa pit — the first and oldest pool of discarded petroleum in Ecuador — to mix into the bunker spawn which will line an 8 ft. embankment at the pit’s edge.
