Observation 6748: Gyromitra infula (Schaeff.) Quél.

No herbarium specimen

Notes: Found growing on cut logs in scattered slash piles. Local habitat predominately redwood, but Douglas fir, tan oak and other species plentiful. Growing in fairly open, disturbed area, full sun, NW exposure. Found many specimens, varying in size from about 2" (5cm) to 5" (13cm); color varied from rust to very dark brown.
