What do you mean by "substrate discrepancies’?

It is rather strange to reject the name “Hymenoscyphus fructigenus” based on “substrate discrepancies”, when “Nordic Macromycetes: Vol. 1 Ascomycetes” writes: on “Fagus, Quercus, Corylus, Acer [sic!], Alnus and Prunus”. Do you have any other reason for rejecting H. fructigenus, or any better suggestion?
