Observation 67873: Non-fungal
When: 2011-05-12
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Small rotating twisted root like growth. May be early stages of seed to plant life. Growth had small root base and did not appear to be a seedling after second look. Not really sure what this is. No smell, growing from forest floor debris, and quite bright compared to the surrounding litter.

this observation has all the value of a true fungal observation. after all, should something similar be re-observed, this observation will serve as a reference/teaching tool for elucidating the identity of that future find. leave it here and let it happily populate the growing “Non-Fungal” species list.

Inclined to agree. This could have been a small root uncovered on the forest floor. kk
