Recognized by sight: This genus name refers to a clade that is apparently nested within Lecanora. However, it is still a useful name, no matter what ‘Lecanora’ means in relation to it. Perhaps Protoparmeliopsis will end up as a sub-genus!

I was too quick, and didn’t notice that all the brown “squamules” were in fact simply extremely dense apothecia, and that the border is more Lecanora muralis-like. What group does this new(?) Protoparmeliopsis refer to?
