Odor/taste not recorded. Fibrils at stipe base visible in dried specimens.
Basidia 4-spored, ~20 × 10, with stout sterigmata, up to 10 × 2.5. Spores vary a lot in size, from 8.5 × 5 to 12 × 8 (one measured 14 × 9). Cheilocystidia forming a band, variably shaped. Pleurocystidia not observed.
Hyphae of the cortical layer of the stipe diverticulate, 2-3 microns thick. Hyphae of the pileipellis hard to see, some with 5 microns long excrescences.
Unable to id; the closest thing seems to be the 2-spored M. silvae-nigrae.
