I just read in Roody’s book that G. marginata sometimes grows from buried wood. But I still think these are P. veris, and I have upgraded my vote confidence so that the proposal gets into the 90% range. These look just like the P. veris that I’ve been finding here in my area.

of the ground; or at least where the wood meets the ground. I’ve never seen G. marginata do this. Also, there seems to be a lot of P. veris being reported in eastern NA this spring.
