Avatar is like being in the rainforest.
Imagine working alongside a large constituency of Northeast Ecuadorians, a percentage of whom still prefer pre-Columbian Amazonian dress and lifeways, while extolling the virtues of a restorative organism composed of giant, underground, filamentous networks (some of which have a habit of glowing in the dark) to help reverse the decades of damage caused by an American, extraction minded, multinational corporation…
…and then viewing James Cameron’s science-fictionalized, extra-terrestrial rendition of same in 3D in a jam-packed Quito movie theater — twice.
in New Zealand in the forest on northern part of North Island. After being in the woods at night for a while, after my eyes adjusted I could see all the dead tree fern fronds, palm leaves, etc. were glowing.
the whole forest floor seemed to light up! The volunteers with me said it was like being in Avatar.
Always always always wanted to see this! good work!
