Observation 68703: Morchella importuna M.Kuo, O’Donnell & T.J.Volk
When: 2011-06-05
No herbarium specimen

Notes: Just like the “taxon J” bundle we found about a month ago in newly constructed neighborhoods here in Olympia. Fragile slender stalks-thin flesh- well organized spore bearing structure. These few were fruiting from a very disturbed construction site that was absolutely covered with G. esculenta in March and April. Evergreen has created a new connecting bark trail from campus to the organic farm trail- construction began here around summer last year. We started finding the G. esculenta on this trail in March along both sides of the trail in gravel and debris much like these Morchella today.

A pretty common phenomenon to get Morchella species near areas where Gyromitra, Peziza and Helvella appear. Common- not always or absolute though…

Temp: 70’s sunny.
