you mean to say Mollisia are discernible from Tapesia without microscopy?

Mollisia spec., not ligni

this is a Mollisia spec., but not Mollisia ligni which has a iod-negative porus reaction. The species in Fungi of Switzerland named M. ligni is a misidentification. This one is called M. “pyrenopezizoides” nom. prov. in my provisional key. Macroscopically M. ligni is a dark species with a velvety, dark brown exterior. Ecologically M. ligni is a xerotolerant species, restricted to hardwood in dry and windy places, often on branches still attached to the tree.
