Observation 70190: Amanita solaniolens H.L. Stewart & Grund

When: 2011-06-24

Collection location: Luzerne Co., Pennsylvania, USA [Click for map]

Who: Dave W (Dave W)

Specimen available

These impress me as small thin brunnescens, except for the basal structure and the lack of staining. Spores globose to subglobose, 6 < diameter < 10. Growing in mix of maple and oak.

I’ve been calling these “solaniolens.” However, the color on the cap is consistently dark brownish gray, with only occasional olivaceus tint… when the light hits ajust the right way.

I’m preserving one from this collection.
