Notes: Scattered in undergrowth under hardwoods, with oaks in vicinity, on the edge of a trail. The velvety pileipellis is of a rich maroon color, resembling that of young Xanthoconium purpureum. The tubes are possibly xerocomoid, though they were too mushy to be split in two.
